Data and Research Roundtable
Join our Data and Research Roundtable sessions! Are you part of an organization that collects data or would like to collect data on the home-based child care (HBCC) sector? Do you want to grow your knowledge of HBCC research and connect with peers doing similar work? Our first session will focus on developing a theory of change logic model. Register before the spaces get filled! Monthly sessions will be held through September 2026.
Roundtable Session 1
Date: May 21, 2026
Time: 1:00PM CT / 2:00PM ET
Topic: Developing a theory of change logic model for HBCC evaluation and research
Overview: This session will focus on developing a theory of change logic model for engaging in HBCC evaluation and research. Participants will learn about each element of the process from the target population to implementation to short/ long term outcomes. Participants will think about their own data and research needs for applying the logic model and get feedback from Center leadership and other participants.
Roundtable Session 2
Topic: Using available data when resources are limited
Overview: This session will focus on using data that organizations already collect such as meeting notes, project plans, and agendas. Participants will learn about how best to use the data they collect and how to use administrative and program data to answer research questions about the HBCC sector.
Roundtable Session 3
Topic: Recruitment strategies and engaging HBCC providers in research
Overview: This session will focus on strategies for recruiting and engaging HBCC providers in research. Participants will share their challenges around recruitment and engaging HBCC providers as partners in research and evaluation. This session will draw upon the Center’s Principles of Conducting HBCC Research from the Toolkit to guide the discussion.
Roundtable Session 4
Topic: How to use research to measure and understand HBCC providers and their needs
Overview: This session will focus on how to use research to measure and collect data that is of interest to participants. Participants will engage in a discussion around the needs in their community and potential research tools. The Center’s Repository of Research and Evaluation Protocols will be shared.
NAFCC Webinar
The Center’s Associate Director, Marisa Schlieber, will be part of a panel for NAFCC’s upcoming webinar Benefits, Stability, and the Future of Family Child Care: Building Real Access to Healthcare and Retirement speaking about the role of research and evaluation.
