HBCC Research Essentials Toolkit: Syllabus Template
Child care research has often emphasized center-based care with less attention to the home-based child care (HBCC) sector. To address this need, the Center has developed a course template focused exclusively on HBCC to prepare future researchers and evaluators to engage in policy-relevant research in the HBCC field. This template addresses the following topics: course description, course objectives, sample assignments, and sample course schedule. Topics include research and policy issues in the HBCC sector as well as research strategies to effectively engage in HBCC research.
This template is intended for faculty in higher education institutions, which may include those in colleges or departments of Education, Human Development and Family Sciences, or Psychology. This course template is designed for a graduate course or seminar for students in Master’s, Ph.D., or Ed.D. programs and may also be adapted to fit the needs of the instructor.
